Our September 11 Community Service Event

Volunteers help clean headstones and beautify the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
This is a great service opportunity for club members, their families, and friends.
Dress is casual and respectful. No open toed shoes, tank tops, etc. We will be outside so be mindful of the weather. No pets please. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

UTD/Rotary Explore Research Innovation

  • Richardson Rotary will host its first evening meeting in conjunction with UT Dallas Office of Research and Innovation, with a presentation* by Dr. David Lary. This is the first of a three-part evening series featuring UT Dallas outstanding researchers based in our community.
  • The location is the Richardson IQ HQ, 1302 E. Collins Blvd, Richardson, 75081.
  • This is a special  opportunity to bring guests who cannot join us at a noon Rotary meeting. Please invite spouses, friends, neighbors, colleagues, and community leaders. UT Dallas also has registrants from the community who have signed up to attend to hear Dr. Lary speak. However, members of Rotary and their guests are not required to register. Together, we hope for a turnout of 50 people.
  • Dr. Lary’s work involves remote sensing from robotic aerial vehicles and satellites, Machine Learning, and Big Data. Following the presentation, he and his team will offer a tour of the  MINTS-AI  lab on the UT Dallas side of the IQ HQ.
  • 5:00 p.m.           Social/Appetizers available
  • 5:15 p.m.           Short Rotary Meeting
  • 5:30 p.m.           Speaker: Dr. David Lary
  • After 6:00 p.m.  Tour of UT Dallas  Lab

Tabitha Branum, RISD Superintendent

RISD Update

Tabitha Branum is an experienced leader and motivated educator with 25 years of experience. She served as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, technology leader, and curriculum leader prior to joining RISD eight years ago. In August 2022, Branum was named RISD Superintendent.

She is passionate about public schools and knows what it takes to ensure all students graduate prepared to navigate a future they create.

Kit Sawers is president of Klyde Warren Park, Dallas’s favorite green space, welcoming more than one million visitors per year and serving as part of the leadership team for the $120 million expansion of this internationally renowned deck park. A native Dallasite, Sawers has spent her entire professional career working with nonprofits. She graduated from The Hockaday School and received a BA in English from the University of Virginia in 1989 and JD from SMU’s Dedman School of Law in 1993.
